Yarmo up front... the 3 attacking mids are going to have to get through a huge amount of work then

Those changes are fair enough. I wonder if Antonio will be on the bench if we need him. Otherwise I would really like to see Mipo given a good half hour - yes, he's inexperienced but at least he's a proper striker and by all accounts a very talented one.

If that's right and Yarmalenko is plating then I hope Benny stays in...him Yarmo and Fornals linked up pretty well when they played together in the last round.

Hammers.news confidently saying:

Balbuena IN for knackered Dawson
Chinny for JLingz in nickname swap

AND
Yarmolenko up front.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
As its been said, without Antonio we don’t have a striker so why play someone in a position they are not used to and prob not capable of.
What we have got is a fair amount of pace on the break, so why not go two banks of five?
Done Spurs with that formation a few years back, their defence didn’t know who to mark.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
Fatigued or not Antonio has been below par recently so it's a good opportunity for our new striker that we got in January to make a name for himself.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
We don't need a half-fit Antonio out there. To contradict an earlier post, I don't think he's looked right since returning. An occasional powerful run, maybe, but not the force he was back at the start of the season. His recent form in front of goal suggests this too. So, whether it's an underwhelming Yarma, an out-of-position Bowen, or an inexperienced Mipo - start with fit front man. If needed and available, Antonio could be useful for last 15.

daveyg - pretty intricate long con to ask Antonio to fake coming off against Fulham with a hamstring issue to lull Man Utd into a false sense of security for tonight! I don't think Antonio will feature.

Either start Mipo or at least give him a good 30 mins in the second half... young legs against tired legs.

Michail Antonio Other Feb 08: "He's still fatigued so it'll be a close call whether he makes it or not. We'll need to assess him tomorrow to see if he's able to play or not."

I don't think he will play tonight

Re: Team for Man Utd.
Antonio looked fit against Villa and Palace.
Maybe a red herring to say he's fatigued, make Man Utd think Yarmo is playing and they have the game in the bag. Wishfull thinking maybe....

Re: Team for Man Utd.
I’m slightly worried our lot have hit a wall physically. Bielsa like. They have run their socks off and in some pretty shitty conditions. I think that’s why Lingard probably had such a great game against Villa. He was fresh and hungry. Looked more knackered against Fulham.

Can't concentrate on work today, such a big fucking game and hope Moyes gets his team selection right.

Massive call on whether he plays Antonio or not. And if not, who will he play up top?

FUCKING CMON YOU IRONS.

Find myself agreeing with Vexed. Showed them too much respect and frankly Antonio should have ragged their defence if he was fit but he isn't. Let them have time on the ball, let them gain confidence an get their passing going, let them control the game.
Could be the same today very easily.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
We were entirely responsible for that defeat. They were there for the taking, as everyone else who has played them lately has found. We bottled it.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
We held Liverpool at 0-0 for nearly an hour and then they began to play like most of last season, Salah woke up, and they took over.

Converting chances against Liverpool, Chelsea and ManU in our league games has been a problem.

Liverpool are the only team that has comfortably beaten us for ages, we may lose but it won't be comfortable for them.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
I think there will be 4 or 5 changes at least as our team looks physically shot. Think there will be changes in defence, midfield and up front. Fornals, Bowen likely and they actually link up well - at least they are always looking for each other. Yarma to start as forward if we can ever get the ball forward.
Expecting an extremely negative game plan if I'm honest with the odd set play being an opportunity or maybe a bit more ambition late if we go behind.

Can't see past a comfortable win for Man Utd but hope we have something in the tank to make a game of it and perhaps spring a surprise.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
Yes they are a better team the league table doesn't lie. However, in the previous league game we were by far the superior team we SHOULD have been 3 or 4 up in the first half and over the hills and far, far away. The build up to their first goal was dubious to say the least and no VAR involved surprisingly and the rest is history.

Tonight is a one off game, we will set up (hopefully) to keep it tight, frustrate, no fancy flicks or tricks and wait for the counter attack.

Keep the faith brothers and sisters.

If we play the 5 at the back, we will win.

I think this will go the way of the Liverpool and the previous Man U game. Unfortunately they are a better side.
